Aderemi Babatunde Alabi, is a Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, with about 2 decades of university teaching, research and administrative experience.

He has served as the Head of Department and Faculty representative to senate. His area of research is Solid State Physics and Materials Science with interest in synthesis and characterization of semiconductor materials for application in fabrication of energy conversion /energy storage devices, energy generation with the use of biomass, waste conversion for production of composite materials, remediation of polluted water through photocatalysis and fabrication of photodetector of electromagnetic radiation and monitoring.

He has published with other co-authors and researchers over seventy (70) articles in reputable journals. Professor Alabi is a member of the Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria, the International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD), USA. He got a third place poster award at the 2016 ICDD.

Qualifications
  • B.Sc. Physics (Ile-Ife), M.Sc. Physics (Ilorin), Ph.D. Physics (Ilorin)
Undergraduate Teaching
  • Electricity and Magnetism, Waves and Optics, Solid State Physics I and II, Student Project
Postgraduate Teaching
  • Solid State Physics, Projects
Research Interests
  • Growth, Characterisation and Application of Nanostructured Materials in form of Thin Films, Particles, Sheets, Rods and Wires. Such materials as Cadmium Telluride, Cadmium Sulphide, Titanium Oxide, Copper Phthalocyanine, Cuprous Oxide, Copper (II) Oxide, Zinc Oxide, Tin Oxide and Gallium Oxide in the development/fabrication of photovoltaic devices, sensors and for photocatalytic activity on organic pollutants. Bioelectronics with our focus on Organic Electrochemical transistors (OECTs) We worked on Organic Electrochemical Transistors (OECTs) using Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(styrene-sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), which is a well-known highly conducting and optically transparent polymer material. The PEDOT:PSS was embedded in/on cotton fibres and used as the Gate and Channel of a Transistor Sensor for sensing application and Preparation of Lithium Manganese Oxide Li2MnO3 for fabrication of Cathode electrode in development of a Lithium Ion Battery and for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes such as Emio Chrome Black T..
Research Affiliations
  • Solid State and Material research for application in energy generation, conversion and storage, gas and fluid sensor, radiation detection, photocatalysis for waster water remediation and plastic waste management in collaboration with Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism (IMEM) , Parma, Italy. Study of Structural properties of Materials in collaboration with International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD), USA.
